The department of spatial planning, GIS and forest policy is a multifunctional team composed of seven researchers who are engaged in scientific research in biotechnology, where in addition to forest landscape research, research in the field of erosion processes and monitoring of forest vitality, application of GIS in forestry, a new approach to forestry has been adopted - research in the field of forest policy. The sociological component of forestry research, which is an integral part of forest policy, has been successfully introduced into our scientific circles through foreign scientific projects in which our associates have participated for a number of years. The Department has been accredited as the National Center for Monitoring the vitality of forests of the Republic of Serbia and it has been successfully participating in the EU programme for monitoring forest resources of the Republic of Serbia carried out according to special manual instructions for all European countries.
The scope of work of the Department:
- Natural resource management, protected natural area management, landscape management, spatial planning;
- Adoption and development of digital applications and tools in forestry;
- Application of digital GIS technologies in forestry;
- Watershed Management;
- Monitoring of forest condition;
- Forest Policy.
Research studies of the Department are carried out through:
- Scientific-research projects: (basic, applied and innovation projects)
- Natural resource management programmes and projects;
- International programmes and projects;
- Education, training, conferences, seminars, courses;
- Publishing - scientific papers, monographs, studies, manuals, instructions and other publications.
