Activities of the department include research studies in the following fields:
- forest inventory and forest management planning;
- growth of forest trees and stands;
- research on the production potential and assortment and qualitative structure of forests;
- research studies in the field of ecology of forest species, typology and biodiversity of forest ecosystems, all with the aim of achieving multipurpose management of of forest resources;
- evaluation of multiple forest benefits, as part of multiple-use forestry;
- development of forest management plans;
- Expertise on various issues in the research area;
- Organization of work and assessment of the economic feasibility of planning documents and projects in forestry
The above enumerated activities are performed on the basis of results obtained on both temporary and permanent sample plots, within the projects supported by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development and the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection, or at the request of other independent customers.
